Alex & onShore Peeps,

The test....I attempted to restart the server around 10:45pm tonight
(10/30/2002).
Didn't seem to work. I hit the restart button, waited my 30 seconds then hi=
t
refresh. Server status was still "not running." I waited a little while
longer, hit refresh...still "not running."
Tried hitting the "Start Webcheckout Server Button," waited my 30
seconds....still not running.
It's now 11:02pm and the server will not start up. I'm clicking the start
server button one more time and leaving.

Hopefully it will be up before people arrive in the morning .

How to Stop and Start WebCheckout

First, make sure it's actually stalled by calling the other checkout center=
s
and confirming they, too, are unable to get a response. Assuming no one can
get a response, do this=8A

1) Go to this address: http://webco.artic.edu:10000/
2) Enter the following logon and pword:

logon =3D root
pword =3D iYamd@r00t (adopt Chicago accept while saying 'I am the root')

3) You should get a page that is titled Webmin.
4) Click the tab 'Servers'. Click the button 'WebCheckout Server'.
5) You should see a page titled WebCheckout Server. Note the Server Status
immediately below. If it's crashed, it will read Down?
6) Click the button 'Restart WebCheckout Server'.
7) After starting WebCheckout, you have to wait about 30 seconds for the
application to completely come up. Wait for that period, and reload this
page. You should see Server Status read Up.

Let me know how it goes.

If there are no problems tonight, try this anyway, after closing.

For future reference, anytime you have to do this, email me, Sarah, and
onShore's Beta list (webco-beta@lists.onshored.com) detailing when and the
circumstances.

Thanks,
Alex.
