Originally, SAIC had a free text Physical Location or Currently At...
location. This morphed into a Home Location at some point. I agreed
to that change with the acknowledgement that it's original purposes
would still be addressed.
My problem is that I still cannot enter a free text description of a
location. Since this is the field referenced in Overnight reports, I
can't implement Overnight to security guards till they have an
accurate location as to where a student doing an Overnight is
located.
I've looked over the current implementation of Home Location and have
determined it to be unusable for this purpose. Referencing the
response I got from bug 2705 I entered about a year ago, where is the
option to enter a string? I assume this means free text?

 From bug 2705:
It's been superceded by the use of Home Location and Physical location, as
mechanisms for tracking current location of a resource. These can be
strings or
Location resource objects.
